Pre-Exam Mindfulness for Teens

We are coming up to a very stressful time for many teenagers about to sit their exams. They may feel overwhelmed by the work, despondent about possible results and catastrophising about their future. This may manifest itself as anxiety or just feeling too depressed to deal with anything.

Mindfulness has been proven to help relieve anxiety and stress as well as in- crease attention and focus.

What we focus on influences how we feel. If we are self critical or despairing we are more likely to feel down. It is also true that the more time we spend on something, the better we get at it. So if we are spending much of the day worrying, we get a lot better at worrying rather than at solving our problem.

I am running two one hour mindfulness workshops over the Easter holidays for teenagers interested in developing practices which can help them regu- late their mood and feel more in charge of themselves.

The workshops will cover some information about how the brain functions in relation to stress and fear, some physical and breathing exercises to relax the body and to help the mind get out of repetitive loops, as well as practices to build up resilience and optimism in the face of anxiety.

Proposed dates and times (open to change according to demand): Tuesday 7th April and Tuesday 14th April, 2-3pm.
Please contact me for venue details, in Crouch End.
Fee: £30 per workshop

I could run extra workshops if there was a demand for more.
